Watchman Digest

Where, O Where Has Larry Fain Gone?

Host: Stan Cox

Larry Fain was not available for this Digest, as he was recuperating from surgery.  Stan did the “soliloquy” thing, and talked about the Economy, Democrats grumbling (already) about Barack Obama, the “unity” problems of the Episcopal Church, and the poor Auto Companies, begging to congress.  He ranted about young ladies who smoke, and left us with the wonderful sentiments of Romans 8:31-ff. Why So Impatient, Obama?

Hosts: Larry Fain & Stan Cox

Prayers are needed for the families of the dead, and the wounded in Mumbai, India. And, fortitude is needed as terrorist threats continue.  Obama seems a bit impatient (and presumptuous) and he and his chomp at the bit to enter the office of President.   Is Obama now advocating McCain economic principals?  Well, Yes and No.  And, what is this about a chocolate Jesus?  You have to be kidding! The Problem with Charisma

I was thinking earlier this week, around Tuesday, about Charisma.  I have to say that Charisma has me a bit irritated.   You know, “a personal attractiveness or interestingness that enables you to influence others.”  (That’s the definition of the word).

Now, there is nothing wrong with Charisma per se.  It’s not a personality fault, or something that you want to try to hide, if you have it.

The problem is, too many people place too much emphasis upon it, or the lack thereof.  Charisma has absolutely no bearing upon a person’s rightness or wrongness, nor upon a person’s qualifications and experience.   Unless, of course, a primary qualification for a person to be successful in his or her pursuit is the attribute of charisma itself! Brad Lidge! Brad Lidge! Brad Lidge!

Hosts: Larry Fain & Stan Cox

Larry and Stan discuss baseball, football, politics, and the Supreme Court.  Also, why does society inconsistently define who is and who is not human?  Sometimes in the eyes of the law a fetus is a human being, and sometimes it is not.  Of course, in the eyes of God, an unborn child is always a child. Obama’s Disingenuous Answer on Abortion

In the October 15th debate, Barack Obama was disingenuous in giving his answer to the question regarding his voting against the anti-abortion measure in the Illinois state legislature.  His words, verbatim, were, “If it sounds incredible that I would vote to withhold lifesaving treatment from an infant, that’s because it’s not true.”

The word disingenuous means, according to Webster, “lacking in candor.”  It indicates that a person is not being forthcoming about his real beliefs.  In other words, he is being dishonest.

Obama has been dishonest in the way he has presented himself to the American people.  And I’ll prove it to you. Read More…

Political Pandering

What did you think way back in 1992 when you saw Bill Clinton get his saxophone and play with the band on the Arsenio Hall show? Now that’s a blast from the past, isn’t it?

Well, since I am bringing it up, I guess you know how I feel about it. It irritated me, and the presidential candidates who have appeared since on such shows as Oprah, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, the Ellen DeGeneres show, and The View irritate me too!

Now, I know what you are thinking. Stan, they had to appear on these shows, because the public demands it. And, you’re right. In fact, that’s what irritates me so much. Why is it that Presidential candidates have to pander to pop culture? Read More…
