Democrats Say the Most Amazing Things!

Hosts: Larry Fain & Stan Cox

First, sorry for the microphone issues with Stan.  We will get them fixed as soon as possible.  Other than that, enjoy!  Larry and Stan discuss some of the things that Democrats have said the past couple of weeks that give rise to the possibility of a McCain win.  We discuss quotes from Obama himself, Joe Biden and Jack Murtha.

Show Notes:

• Palin on SNL. Stan notes that Sarah Palin appeared on Saturday Night Live last week, and did a good job of laughing at herself, and taking the kidding with good humor.  But, it is still a shame that politicians find they must pander to pop culture.
• Revisiting Obama’s conversation with Plumber Joe. Not to continue to beat on a dead horse, but Obama continues to pay the price for using the phrase “spreading the wealth” to describe what he wants to do with our taxes.  Socialism might be a “bad word” in the minds of many, but definitionally it exactly describes Obama’s economic policies.
  • Political Punch: “Spreading the Wealth?”
    
• Joe Biden and a “Manufactured Crisis”. As Larry says, it was just Joe being Joe.  But, Biden’s promise that within six months of his election, Obama’s mettle would be tested by a manufactured crisis, serves as a warning both about his policies of appeasement, and his lack of experience on the worlds Stage.
  • ‘Special Report’ Panel Discusses Prediction of an International Crisis Within First Six Months of an Obama Presidency
• Jack Murtha and Pennsylvania Racists. Stan brought up Democratic house member Jack Murtha, who called his Pennsylvania constituents racist, then tried to backtrack, and recategorize them as rednecks.  Larry took issue with the redneck quote, identifying with the blue collar crowd.  However, racist, or redneck, neither quote does Obama any favors.

• Stan’s Weekly Rant: Too often, children do not show the proper respect for adults.  Sometimes it seems they think that adults are window dressing, serving only to occasionally assist, and most often irritate, as they go about their lives.  Whose fault is that?  Well, most often it is the parent’s fault!  To read Stan’s rant, click here.
• Larry’s Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:1-ff.  Larry emphasizes the fundamental truths regarding the gospel of our Lord.  His death, burial and resurrection from the dead.  As such we have hope, and whatever the circumstances of our lives and our country, we can stand.
• Stan’s Software Review: AVG. A free antivirus program, that also allows for free virus updates.  The program rivals Norton and McAffee in effectiveness and ease of use, and costs absolutely nothing!

Descent into Socialism

Larry and Stan discuss the Texas Education and the Creation/Evolution Controversy; The Economy; The Last Presidential Debate; a little football and baseball; and Obama’s affiliation with the Radical left.

Show Notes:

• Texas Education, (Teaching Evolution). A Watchman Digest listener alerted us to a current controversy raging with the Texas State Board of Education regarding the language used in teaching Evolution.  Some are asking that the words “strengths and weaknesses” should be taken out of the curriculum, claiming that the theory of evolution has no weaknesses.  If you wish to write the State Board of Education, you can at sboesupport@tea.state.tx.us.
• The Economy. Whose fault is it that the economy is failing?  Larry puts in interesting spin on the question.  Stan quotes from an editorial from Investor’s Business Daily, that lays the blame at the feet of failed policies dating all the way back to the Clinton administration.
• The Debate. Why has there been no discussion of social issues like abortion, homosexuality, gun control and immigration in the Presidential debates?  Larry is leaning (as usual) to conspiracy theories.  Stan is thinking that the Republican party leadership is leaving its socially conservative base.
• The Obama/Ayers Connection.  Not guilt by association… Guilt by Affiliation.  Obama’s work with the Chicago Annenburg Challenge Project is a clear indication of the type of radical social engineering he wants to integrate into the public schools.  This article from American Thinker will curl your hair!
• Stan’s Weekly Review: WordPress.  (WordPress.com; WordPress.org).  Free blogging software and services.  Any congregation can have an attractive and usable web site in 10 minutes by using blogging software.  WordPress is one of the best, and the one that Stan uses. The Watchman Digest site is designed using WordPress.
• Larry’s Bible Verse: Matthew 22:17-22.  In days such as this it is difficult to render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.  But Jesus said do it, so that’s what we must do!
• Stan’s Weekly Rant: Why do politicians find it necessary to pander to popular culture?  Richard Nixon did it, Bill Clinton did it, and both candidates are doing it in this election as well.  To say the least, this irritates Stan.  To read his latest rant, click here.

Well, since I am bringing it up, I guess you know how I feel about it. It irritated me, and the presidential candidates who have appeared since on such shows as Oprah, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, the Ellen DeGeneres show, and The View irritate me too!

Now, I know what you are thinking. Stan, they had to appear on these shows, because the public demands it. And, you’re right. In fact,that’s what irritates me so much. Why is it that Presidential candidates have to pander to pop culture?

I can remember when Richard Nixon appeared on Laugh-In, and then on another occasion appointed Elvis Presley (of all people) as a special agent for the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in a particularly laughable and awkward attempt to gain some credible “coolness”.  But, whether a candidate is cool has nothing to do with whether said candidate is capable of leading this country.

All Clinton’s sax audition showed is that he is a mediocre musician; and all that Barack Obama’s and John McCain’s appearances on The View show is that the Liberal left’s call for fairness is about as hypocritical as it can be!

Lindsay Lohan does not like the McCain/Palin ticket. So? Why should anyone place any weight to what a immoral teenage drug abuser thinks?

Matt Damon does not like the McCain/Palin ticket.  Big Deal!  Who do you think is the more knowledgeable and astute of the two? The actor, or the governor of the state of Alaska that he so unfairly ridiculed?

Oprah does not like the McCain/Palin ticket. So What?  Actually I am very glad about this because I would be afraid to be too fond of anything that Oprah endorses.

Here is my greatest fear. That enough people do care what Lohan and Damon and Oprah and Whoopie say. That people would be swayed in their decision on electing the next President of the United States because they listen to people like that, who have shown themselves time and again to be incapable of making moral and sound judgments.

Our next President may be Barack Obama. And say what you will about his qualifications or lack thereof, if it happens it will be to a great extent because he’s a fairly handsome guy… and because he speaks in bland generalities… and because he plays basketball while on the campaign trail… and because Ludacriss, P. Diddy, Oprah, and others have convinced a bunch of sheep that he’s the bomb.  And that, my friends, is so very sad.
