Watchman Digest

Bowling, Baseball and the Big Dance

Hosts: Stan Cox and Larry Fain

Stan and Larry talk about Barack Obama’s NCAA Basketball picks.  Not so much the teams, but the controversy surrounding the President taking time out to fill out a bracket, go bowling, and talk about it on a late night talk show.  Should he be more focused on the problems the country is facing?  Is it un-presidential for him to be hitting the late night talk show circuit?  And, is the punishment fitting the crime regarding his faux paux with his “Special Olympics” comment?  One thing is for sure, it wasn’t a good week for the President. Watchman Digest

Promises, Promises, Promises

Host: Stan Cox

Stan goes solo in this edition of the Digest.  Larry was stricken last minute with a rather severe illness.  We trust he will be back next week.

Stan discusses two basic issues.  First, the war being waged by Barack Obama upon the sanctity of human life, seen in his recent movements in favor of abortion and stem cell research.  Second, the stimulus package and upcoming budget bill indicate that Obama and his cronies in congress well along in the process of bringing big government (or, bigger government) to America. In this episode Stan and Larry discuss the economic stimulus bill just passed by Congress.  Larry discusses the importance of honesty while Stan rants about bad sportsmanship.  Finally, the two discuss the reality of Obama’s pledge to be bipartisan in his efforts as president.  What does he mean by bipartisan?  Could it be he means, do it my way?! In this episode Stan and Larry discuss the economic stimulus bill presently before Congress, and the change in policy Obama has passed regarding monetary support of family planning organizations in foreign countries, that either perform abortions, or give out information on abortion services.  Also, the gift that keeps on giving, a “Chia pet” bust of Barack Obama.  Larry immediately put it on next year’s Christmas list! How Many Zeros Are There in a Billion?

Hosts: Stan Cox and Larry Fain

In this episode Stan and Larry discuss the economy, including the proposed $825 Billion economic stimulus plan now in congress.  Larry spends a little time discussing the number 1,000,000,000, putting it in terms we can understand, though it still blows the mind!  Also discussed are several potential Presidential cabinet appointments, those toothless Republicans (Sorry, Larry) and Obama’s potential foreign policy philosophy as it impacts the Middle East.  We also have a little preaching by Larry, and a little ranting by Stan, so tune in! “Oh Say, Can You See?”

Hosts: Stan Cox and Larry Fain

In this episode Stan and Larry discuss the importance of a strong father in the home.  This to avoid delinquent children, and from a Christian perspective, to better ensure the child’s faithfulness to God.  Obama’s stimulus package, $800 billion strong is discussed, along with his claims that his administration will be fiscally responsible (boy is the public gullible)!  Finally, did you hear that Obama had lunch with the four living Presidents?  In Stan’s opinion, who doesn’t belong in this picture?  Hint:  His initials are Bill Clinton! A brand new year, and a brand new episode of Watchman Digest!  In this episode Larry and Stan discuss the College Football BCS system; New Year’s resolutions for Barack Obama (hint: do NOTHING!); the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and how in the world Al Franken is being elected to the U.S. Senate!  Stan rants on Cell phone providers, and Larry preaches on Philippians 3.  All in all, a good way to start the year 2009! “How ’bout them Boys!”

Host: Stan Cox

Larry Fain misses a second, (and hopefully) final week after having oral surgery.  Stan spends time this week exercising his filibuster privileges, and talking about Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, the Dallas Cowboys, two examples of Hollywood immorality (Madonna and Jennifer Aniston), and our smoking (literally) President-elect Barack Obama!  (Note:  There is an occasional “glitch” in the audio, I’m not sure where it came from.  It does not greatly impact the program, just an occasional “click”, but I am aware of it, and I will do some testing to make sure it doesn’t crop up again next week). Where, O Where Has Larry Fain Gone?

Host: Stan Cox

Larry Fain was not available for this Digest, as he was recuperating from surgery.  Stan did the “soliloquy” thing, and talked about the Economy, Democrats grumbling (already) about Barack Obama, the “unity” problems of the Episcopal Church, and the poor Auto Companies, begging to congress.  He ranted about young ladies who smoke, and left us with the wonderful sentiments of Romans 8:31-ff. Why So Impatient, Obama?

Hosts: Larry Fain & Stan Cox

Prayers are needed for the families of the dead, and the wounded in Mumbai, India. And, fortitude is needed as terrorist threats continue.  Obama seems a bit impatient (and presumptuous) and he and his chomp at the bit to enter the office of President.   Is Obama now advocating McCain economic principals?  Well, Yes and No.  And, what is this about a chocolate Jesus?  You have to be kidding!
