How Many Zeros Are There in a Billion?

In this episode Stan and Larry discuss the economy, including the proposed $825 Billion economic stimulus plan now in congress. Larry spends a little time discussing the number 1,000,000,000, putting it in terms we can understand, though it still blows the mind! Also discussed are several potential Presidential cabinet appointments, those toothless Republicans (Sorry, Larry) and Obama’s potential foreign policy philosophy as it impacts the Middle East. We also have a little preaching by Larry, and a little ranting by Stan, so tune in!
Show Notes:
- The Economy. Congress narrowly defeated a bill to block the spending of the final $350 billion of the original bailout plan, but a Democrat led congress seems eager to pass a proposed $825 billion economic stimulus plan proposed by Obama. Seems a bit contradictory, but… Also, some Democrats are expressing criticism of Obama’s inclusion of tax breaks for Americans in the stimulus plan. Tax and spend liberals, in control! How many zeros are the in a billion, by the way?
- Foreign Policy. Those toothless Republicans are meekly approving Obama’s proposed Cabinet appointments, including Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, and Eric Holder as Attorney General. Obama is backing off his pledge to immediately close the Guantanamo Bay military prison. Arabs are eagerly looking for Obama to depart from the Bush led U.S. policy concerning the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Obama is already starting to “feel the heat”, and he has not even been inaugurated!
- Stan’s Weekly Rant: Handling Precious Roses. As promised last week, Stan has the illustration on purity and respect for women to read today. He also has a few choice words to young men, encouraging them to treat young ladies with respect. To read Stan’s rant, click here!

- Larry’s Bible Verse: Larry comments on Acts 17:29-31, noting that God calls men to repentance, and the reason for that call is the eventual judgment of man. It is not about this earth, it is about eternity, and as long as Christians remember this, our focus will be where it should be as God’s children.
