Watchman Digest!
Stan Cox, Watchman Magazine editor, together with associate editor Larry Fain has begun a weekly netcast (podcast).
To listen to this week’s digest, visit Watchman Digest by clicking here.
If you want to be reminded of each week’s digest, join our mailing list! The link is at the top of this page.
This effort is designed to augment, not replace Watchman Magazine. It remains our intent to resume publication of the magazine at an as yet undetermined date, and we will attempt within the next few months to finish the archiving of the magazine in the new format.
Many are not familiar with the concept of podcasting, so here are a few things to know about this effort. Especially since this netcast will be much different than a recorded sermon or Bible study.
- You can listen to the netcast on any mp3 player (Not just an iPod).
- You can subscribe to a “feed” (that is what makes it a podcast). That way whenever a new “Digest” has been recorded and published, you will be notified automatically, and the netcast can (if you so desire) be automatically downloaded to your computer’s hard drive, and/or your mp3 player. (If all of that sounds like greek to you, don’t worry. Just notice the next point).
- You can listen to Watchman Digest on your computer. Each week a new “digest” will be uploaded to the Watchman Digest web site. All of the weekly Digests will be archived there. You can either listen on the site, or download the mp3 file to your computer to listen to at your leisure.
- Watchman Digest will not be a Bible Study. Instead, our desire is to discuss politics, culture and the current news from a Christian perspective. As this is an individual effort, we will include some secular material. As Christians, our faith impacts every aspect of our lives. Our desire is to make sure that point of view is clear throughout each Digest. Our format will be conversational, much like a radio talk show. As time progresses, it is our intent to have guests on the program for interviews and discussion.
- We intend to enjoy ourselves, to entertain, and to provoke discussion. It is our hope that we will be able to attract a much larger and more diverse audience than would typically read Watchman Magazine.
- We hope that you will listen each week, and that you will enjoy and benefit from our efforts. We have a donation button on the Watchman Digest home page. If (and only if) you feel the venture is a worthy one, and you would like to help us to defray expenses for the netcast and magazine, we would appreciate a donation. Regardless, we hope you will enjoy our new venture, and continue to benefit from the important material that remains at Watchman Magazine.
Please check out Watchman Digest, and write us to let us know what you think!
